Eclipse

“You are not alone!”

I am in two minds about this phrase.

The support you get directly after a trauma is remarkable. It really is. Your friends and family are there for you. They recognise the pain, and they empathise with you, and give you direction, solution and advise.

What happens once the dust settles? When you are back in your routine and everyone is back in theirs? When you have lows that, on a grander scale are momentary, but still seem like a colossal whirlpool of an issue at that particular time?

You want to reach out for help but everyone is having the time of their lives living and breathing. It weighs heavy on you to turn their day inside out to try and make yours a little bit better.

So you do your best to get distracted. You look at quotes, read a book, listen to music.. but the dark thoughts still creep around like dirty, thick fog.

By definition – alone – is having no one else present; on one’s own. You can bet that there will be countless times when you will be feeling “alone.” These experencies are the true character-building opportunies that will develop you as a person.

.. Honey, I don’t know what to tell you as words can seem insubordinately empty during moments like these. The only comfort is that these trying times are temporary. Like an eclipse.
